STRIPED BASS- (May - Nov)

Catching "stripers" is
the Eastwind's specialty. Stripers are said to be the
most exciting and sought after game fish in New England.
Smaller fish are known as "schoolies" and
average 5-15 pounds. Stripers meeting or exceeding the
legal length requirement, are known as
"keepers". These fish can weigh in excess of
50 pounds. Larger Stripers are usually caught in early
spring and late fall. Although over fished in the 1970's
Striped Bass have made a comeback with the help of
strict regulations. The crew of the Eastwind encourages
releasing fish that are not going to be mounted, or
taken home for dinner.

BLUEFISH- (May - Nov)

The always
challenging Bluefish will put your fishing skills to the
test every time. They can range in size from 5 - 20 plus
pounds. "Blues" usually travel in schools,
have razor sharp teeth and are pound for pound one of
the toughest "fighters" anywhere.
We love to catch Bluefish on light tackle using top
water lures. The result is usually screaming reels and
screaming anglers.

BONITO (July - Oct)

record - 12 lbs, 7 oz.
When the waters
around Cape Cod warm up, school Tuna like the Bonito
arrive. Bonito are one of the fastest swimming fish in
New England and can have into the backing of your reel
in seconds. Their great eye sight make's the use of
small lures, and light tackle such as spinning rods and
fly rods the best way to catch them. They are great on
the grill!

LITTLE TUNNY (False
Albacore) (July- Oct)

record - 19lbs, 5 oz.
Little Tunny are
close relatives to the Bonito, and are sometimes
confused with other small tunas. They are very
aggressive fish and are a little easier to catch than
Bonito. They can show up in large schools, making for
some spectacular light tackle fishing.

SUMMER FLOUNDER (Fluke)
(June -Oct)

Fluke are the most sought after bottom fish
in the area. They are absolutely delicious with a
delicate white meat that just melts in your mouth.
Drifting and bouncing lures on the bottom can produce
some great action in a very relaxing atmosphere. A
fishing trip that the whole family can enjoy.

BLACK SEA BASS- (May -
Nov)

record - 8 lbs.
Black
sea bass usually average 2-3 pounds. Despite it's small
size, it is one of the most popular fish in the area.
They are Delicious! In recent years, black sea bass have
been sold live to restaurants, where customers can pick
their own fish for dinner.

TATAUG-(May - Nov)

record - 22 lbs, 9 oz.
Tataug are usually
found around rock piles and strong currents, they feed
on mussels, crabs and other shell fish. they have very
powerful jaws that allow them to crush shells. They are
very strong fighters and their white flaky meat make
them a superb fish for chowder. Larger fish, usually
over 5 pounds are known as white chinners.

SCUP (Porgy) (May - Nov)

record - 5 lbs, 14 oz.
Scup are jokingly known to locals
as "silver marlin". These scrappy fish are
famous for stealing your bait, as well as being
delicious when pan fried. Scup fishing can be fast and
furious. A perfect trip for young kids. Don't be
surprised when a big striper eats your scup before you
can get it to the boat.
